Heavy rain expected in S.A. starting Tuesday
By John W. Gonzales - Express-NewsLabor Day picnics in San Antonio could be doused with afternoon thunderstorms, but it will only be a prelude to the heavy rainfall expected midweek, forecasters said Sunday.
Monday's 20 percent chance of showers after 4 p.m. might not deliver much moisture, but on Tuesday there's a 70 percent chance of heavy rain, followed by a 60 percent chance of heavy rain Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday holds a 50 percent chance of showers, forecasters said.
Rainfall amounts from 2-5 inches are possible, and even larger amounts — up to 10 inches — are not out of the question, according to forecasters who warned that there could be flash flooding late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
