Blanco brush fire burns 1,000 acres
Express-News

A large brush fire in Blanco County, near Johnson City, was 90 percent contained late Thursday afternoon, with the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department reporting it was in the ‘mopping-up' phase.

The fire was reported about noon Wednesday. It started near Ranch Road 1323 and County Road 307 and burned northwest across several properties. At one point, eight homes were in danger, but none burned. The fire was contained Wednesday night, but flared again Thursday morning.

It burned more than 1,000 acres, officials said late Thursday.
