Robbery suspects charged

Two 19-year-old men face felony charges after a a convenience store was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon, marking the second armed robbery in less than two weeks for the New Braunfels area.


Brandon Angel Mendoza and Chase Richard Wayne Walker, both of Canyon Lake, reportedly pulled a handgun on the clerk at PND Food Mart in the 1800 block of Spur Street, then ran with cash from the register.


New Braunfels Police arrested the two without incident at about 3 p.m. Sunday and recovered the handgun as well as the money. The value of the cash was not disclosed Monday by NBPD.Mendoza and Walker face first-degree felony charges, with a punishment of 5 to 99 years or life in prison and fines not to exceed $10,000 each. Both are currently held at the Comal County Jail, and were arraigned Monday on $100,000 bond each.


Last Wednesday, police charged 25-year-old Harold Lee Lloyd with aggravated robbery for pointing a semi-automatic pistol at a Rodeway Inn night clerk May 30, and stealing about $3,000 from the motel. He is currently held on $200,000 bond.Comal County Court-at-law records from 2007 indicate Mendoza, then 18, was convicted on a misdemeanor theft charge stemming from an arrest last July.
