Tot's mother charged with murder
By Guillermo X. Garcia - Express-News A 25-year-old mother has been charged with capital murder in the asphyxiation death of her infant daughter earlier this month.
Silver Starr Hernandez, 25, was arrested Wednesday morning shortly before the funeral for Faith Escamilla, who died June 14, three weeks short of her first birthday.
A local television station caught an expletive-filled tirade by Hernandez as she was arrested and led away from the funeral home. She was jailed after bail was set at $500,000 at a magistrate's hearing.
