End of the road for a killer

HUNTSVILLE — A Bexar County death row inmate who was executed Thursday for robbing and killing a sheriff's sergeant nearly 10 years ago used his final words to apologize.

“I hurt a lot of people with the decisions I made,” said Joshua Maxwell, 31. “I can't be more sorry than I am right now.”

Maxwell was the fourth inmate to be executed this year in Huntsville and the first from Bexar County. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear his appeal March 1, and his attorney did not file a request for clemency.
