DA candidates trade accusations of campaign violations
By Zeke MacCormack - Express-NewsA week after returning illegal campaign contributions from corporations, Scott Monroe has accused opponent Brad McCullouch of improprieties in their Republican primary race for district attorney in the 198th judicial district.
Monroe said McCullouch declared his candidacy before designating a campaign treasurer, campaigned while working as assistant district attorney, and parked a campaign van on private property without the owners' permission.
“I was going to ignore these... but since you have gone to the media and law enforcement, you have left me no choice but to do the same,” Monroe, a Kerrville lawyer, told McCullouch in a letter.
