Down for the count

60 years?

That's a pretty good lick for someone who pled guilty and received a plea bargain even for a racketeering case.

Good job!

A cartel hit man who authorities said killed 70 people in Mexico and was planning a 2006 attack on a nightclub in Laredo received a 60-year prison sentence Thursday.

Eduardo Carreon Ibarra, a 27-year-old U.S. citizen, was one of three connected to the Zetas drug-trafficking organization who was sentenced Thursday. He pleaded guilty two years ago in a Laredo federal court to racketeering charges, admitting that in 2006 he and another sicario, or hit man, had crossed into the U.S. from Nuevo Laredo on orders to kill someone at a Laredo nightclub.

The two were holed up at a motel and were preparing to leave on their mission on Feb. 19, 2006, when Laredo police working with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration arrested them, according to Carreon Ibarra's plea agreement.
